Alabama picked to win third consecutive National Title

The NCAA Football season is just 24 days away and coaches have their players running through workouts preparing for their opening games.

All players and coaches have one goal in mind, playing for and winning the BCS Championship in early January.

This season the odds on favorite to win the national championship is the Alabama Crimson Tide. The Tide has won two consecutive national titles and with the returning talent Alabama has, Bovada has made them a 3/1 favorite to lift the trophy again.

According to online sportsbook Bovada, next in line are Texas A&M and Ohio State at 13/2. Oregon, even though they lost their head coach Chip Kelly to the NFL, has been given 7/1 odds, while Georgia is fifth at 14-1.

The Southeastern Conference has dominated NCAA football with a team from the SEC winning the national championship in each of the past 7 seasons.

Other members of the SEC ranked high besides Alabama include LSU at 18/1, Florida at 20/1, South Carolina at 18/1 and Ole Miss at 125/1.

The SEC teams could knock one another out of national championship contention in their regular season matchups. LSU for example will face Texas A&M and Alabama during the season, while Florida and LSU will face off against one another.

The Tide has their starting quarterback A.J. McCarron returning, which will make them a big threat through the air.

Defensively the Tide always has one of the nation’s best teams and this year will be no exception. With the majority of their starters returning, the defense should be able to lock down most of their opponents during the regular season.

Ohio State will have quarterback Braxton Miller a strong Heisman Trophy candidate returning. Miller led the Buckeyes to an undefeated season last year, but the team was ineligible for postseason bowl games. That is why topbet has Miller at +300 to win the Heisman Trophy.

Texas A&M should also be strong with sophomore sensation Johnny Manziel returning. However, he has had off the field problems and distractions and if those start creeping onto the field, the odds of Texas A&M winning the national title will plummet.

Oregon’s Chip Kelly left to coach for the Philadelphia Eagles, but the school signed his assistant Mark Helfrich who helped run the system of up tempo offense that has been hugely successful for the team.

Look for more of the same from the Ducks this season. Early last week at the Pac-12 media day, reporters chose the Ducks to win the Pac-12 and to fight for the national championship in January.

Georgia is fifth in odds to win the national title. The Bulldogs might have the easiest schedule in the SEC and that could help them reach the SEC championship game and propel them into the BCS title game.

The regular season starts on August 29 and you can use anyone of this online sportsbook – betonline, topbet, Bovada or sportsbook.com to bet on the futures or any game once the season starts.
