Arsenal Looks to Inch Closer to First Place Chelsea

The English Premier League has a number of intriguing matches on Saturday. One of great importance features Burnley hosting Arsenal.

Burnley earned an important point in its battle to against relegation when the club drew with Tottenham last weekend at Turf Moor. However, Sean Dyche’s charges will face another stern test when they face Arsenal Saturday. Burnley is in 19th place trailing 17th place Hull City by two points.

Arsene Wenger’s charges have won 7 straight fixtures in the English Premier League and sit in second in the table. With a victory on Saturday, Arsenal could cut first place Chelsea’s led to just four points, as the Blues do not play until Sunday.

The Gunners are favorites to win on Saturday sitting at -190 or 4 to 7, while Burnley is at +520 to win. A draw can be had at +325.

Burnley has played well at home this season having lost only three of its past 11 matches in league play on its home pitch. The club has played well of late against top clubs drawing with both Tottenham and Manchester United, as well as defeating the likes of Manchester City and Southampton this campaign.

However, the Gunners arrive in top form having scored two goals or more in 10 of their past 11 league matches. This campaign, Arsenal has been held scoreless only twice in its 31 league fixtures.

The Gunners are available at -162 to score two goals or more and -110 to win by more than one goal. The current total is 2.5 goals with the OVER at -135.

However, bettors need to be aware that Arsenal has been the leader at halftime in 10 of its past 11 league matches and is +120 to lead at half and win the match.

The match should be full of tough tackling by the Burnley side and loud fans screaming will be against Arsenal the entire match.

However, with the likes of Alexis Sanchez and Francis Coquelin, Arsenal should not have much of a problem disposing of the less talented club.

Over the past 9 seasons, Arsenal has been victorious in 74% of its road matches against clubs who finished the season in the drop zone.

Burnley has allowed 19 goals in its 16 home fixtures this season.

Arsenal cannot afford to give away points at this juncture of the season and much take all three on Saturday. If they draw or lose, their faint title hopes all but disappear for this season.

Pick: Arsenal 4-1
