The final week of the NFL regular season is not without its share of injuries that will impact games. This week is always tricky of odd makers due to the varying levels of player and team motivation.
This year’s schedule for the last week has a number of strange situations involving quarterback as well.
During this week alone, Connor Shaw, Logan Thomas and Case Keenum will all start for their respective teams at quarterback.
A number of sport books including Bovada and sportsbook.com held off giving the Cleveland Browns vs. Baltimore Ravens game a line until it was determined that Brian Hoyer would not recover in time to play for Cleveland, which made Shaw, the rookie who was undrafted, the starter.
Baltimore finally opened on betonline and topbet at -9 and must win as well as get help to make the playoffs.
Shaw was the winningest South Carolina quarterback at 27-5 as the starter. He is a solid runner, but his physical limitations and inexperience could spell doom for the Browns.
San Francisco has lost four straight against the spread but are still giving the Cardinals +6 points. Arizona has not scored a touchdown since week 14.
Arizona switched its quarterback to Logan Thomas due to the ineffectiveness of Ryan Lindley, but a late report has said Lindley will likely get the nod to start.
Chicago is getting +6 against Minnesota. Jay Cutler returns to quarterback as Jimmy Clausen struggles from a concussion.
It is expected that A.J. Green will play for Cincinnati. The wide out for the Bengals has a bruised bicep and likely will see action.
Pittsburgh is laying 3 points to the Bengals for Sunday night’s game.
The NFC East winning Dallas Cowboys have announced that DeMarco Murray the club’s start running back practiced on Wednesday and should play better this week than he did against the Indianapolis Colts where he only rushed for 58 yards.
Because he had surgery on his hand, he could not stiff arm opponents or catch receptions in Dallas’ rout of the Colts.
Dallas is laying 6 against the Washington Redskins. The Cowboys should play their starters the entire game even though the team’s chances of a first round bye in the postseason are slim.
Other teams that have clinched playoff berths and will not have their postseason positions changed due to a win or loss, will have both starters and backups playing this weekend making it much harder for bettors to pick winners and odds maker to make the lines.
