Odds makers have released another updated NBA Championship odds board with the biggest drop by the Toronto Raptors.
Despite losing by 9 points on Friday to the Atlanta Hawks, the Cleveland Cavaliers remain at the top of the NBA Championship futures board for another week with odds of 2 to 1 to win, which changed from last week’s 5 to 2. The Cavaliers are also the odds on favorite to win the Eastern Conference at 5 to 8. If Cleveland is able to reach the NBA Finals, it will be the fifth consecutive finals trip for LeBron James.
Meanwhile, the Toronto Raptors are free falling off the odds board after losing 9 of 10 games following their loss on Tuesday night to San Antonio. The championship odds for Toronto were lengthened to 30 to 1 from 25 to 1 according to Bovada and topbet. While the Raptors played a number of tough opponents during this bad stretch, a loss to the New York Knicks does not bode well for a team that was considered at one time a top contender in the Eastern Conference.
The price for the Raptors to win the East is now at 13 to 1, which places them behind Cleveland, Atlanta and Chicago on betonline and sportsbook.com.
Indiana, yes Indiana in comparison has won 8 of its past 9 games and 11 of last 13 to sneak into postseason contention. Indiana however remains a big long shot on most boards at 50 to 1 to win the East and 100 to 1 to win the NBA Championship.
The price should shrink on the Pacers should they get Paul George back from his broken leg prior to the end of the season, which is something the team is not really counting on.
Out West, the Golden State Warriors remain atop the conference standings with Memphis, Houston and Portland in hot pursuit. The Oklahoma City Thunder is trying to secure at least the eighth spot but injuries keep knocking them back. Nevertheless, the Thunder has the fourth shortest odds on the NBA futures board.
