Line Holding Steady on Seattle, Moving Up on Denver

The NFL Conference Championships are just three days away and the line is holding steady for Seattle in the NFC and rising for Denver in the AFC.

Earlier this week the money train for New England missed a stop as respected bettors let it be known around the wagering world that they would lay 4 to 4.5 points with Denver playing at home in this Sunday’s AFC Conference Championship.

By late in the afternoon on Tuesday Bovada had Denver -4, topbet had Denver -4.5 and others such as betonline and sportsbook.com had the Broncos with similar numbers. By late Wednesday that figure had increased to the Broncos at -5 and even has high as -5.5.

When the majority of books opened the line Sunday night they had Denver -6.5 and the Patriots supporters were the first wave of bettors that came through, but most of it was public money and not sharp money.

While public bettors were fully behind New England after watching them blow the Colts out on Saturday, the vast majority lost on Sunday with Denver, when the Broncos failed to cover when San Diego kicked a field goal late in the game.

Some odds makers in Vegas have said that -5.5 on Denver is the best number, as they feel some sharp money would take New England at +6 by not at +5.5.

The current number is the lowest that has been posted this season on the Broncos at home. Most even feel the Broncos should have routed New England during the season after leading at half 24-0. Yet, Denver allowed New England back in and eventually lost outright.

On the NFC side, Seattle has held steady at -3 against San Francisco. That is such a key number as it is a field goal that would make it a push. Some books would like to take it to -3.5 if the demand is there. In areas where the 49ers are liked, that number will go up to 3.5 before the kickoff on Sunday.

Thus far, the public has taken San Francisco in areas they are popular but even in Vegas the public is behind the 49ers. The public has liked the 49ers all season on the road as they are 8-1-1 ATS including during the regular and post season.

The only loss ATS they suffered on the road was against this same Seattle team back in Week 2. The Seahawks made the 49ers look like a college team in a 29-3 win. In the game, the 49ers were 3-point road ‘dogs.

More movement on Denver and New England is possible before Sunday, but little is expected for Seattle and San Francisco. The best bet is to look online on Bovada, betonline, sportsbook.com or topbet as close to kickoff as possible to get your best options.
