Thursday Night Football heads to the home of country music when the Indianapolis Colts visit the Tennessee Titans. The Titans are looking to inch closer to the Colts in the AFC South race, while the Colts are looking to come back from a humiliating loss at the hands of the St. Louis Rams.
The Titans chances to get closer to the Colts will take place over the next two and a half weeks. Over that period, the Titans will play the Colts twice.
The Titans are 4-5 SU and 5-3-1 ATS, while the Colts are 6-3 SU and 5-4 ATS. Houston is reeling and Jacksonville has never been in the race making the Titans the only serious threat to Indianapolis in the division. If Tennessee cannot win one of the two games against Indianapolis, they will be out of the race.
The loss by Tennessee against Jacksonville 29-27 last Sunday prevented the Titans from gaining on the Colts who lost 38-8 to the Rams.
The Colts loss to St. Louis was another disappointing outcome for the team as a favorite. Overall, the Colt are 2-4 ATS when favorites and just 3-3 SU.
Tennessee is 3-2 ATS when an underdog this season and 1-4 SU when getting points. The only time they have won outright as a dog was in the first game of the season at Pittsburgh.
Both teams are good plays on the OVER in 2013. For the Titans the OVER has been 5-4 and the Colts OVER is 6-3.
Most online sportsbooks sites such as Bovada and sportsbooks.com have the Colts -3, but others such as topbet and betonline have them at -2.5. The total is sitting on 42.5.
Indy won both games last season against Tennessee. The Colts were underdogs at +3.5 on Bovada last season at Nashville, but defeated the Titans by the score of 19-13. At home, the Colts were -4 and the game ended in a push with Indianapolis winning 27-23.
The Colts have been hurt by the loss of wide receiver Reggie Wayne. He was quarterback Andrew Lucks favorite target, before going down with a season ending injury.
Luck and his fellow Colts have to start quicker in this game. They started slow in their two previous games in which they won one and lost one.
Luck overall has played very well during the season with 14 touchdown passes and just six interceptions. He is mobile and has a strong arm.
Ryan Fitzpatrick steps in for the injured Jake Locker at quarterback for Tennessee. He played well earlier this season in two games that Locker missed. Defensively, the Titans will have a hard time slowing down Luck.
Pick: Take the Colts and the OVER.
