With just two games on the docket for NCAA Football on Friday night, we’ll jump into a couple of teaser wagers on the match-ups between Louisville and Florida International and #21 Missouri vs. Arizona State in preparation for another huge week of NCAA College Football slated for Saturday.
As Louisville and Florida International are set to get underway in just a few short moments, I’ve dropped a quick wager taking Florida Int to cover the + 4points spread at Bodog Sportsbook, considering the fact that Louisville was rather unimpressive last weekend at home against Murray State, holding on to a 21-0 first half lead to win 21-9. Meanwhile, the Golden Panthers of Florida Int. were rather impressive in their Week 1 battle against North Texas, winning at home 41-16 while scoring early and often en route to a 28-0 first quarter lead. If Florida Int. can muster a similar attack on the road tonight at Louisville, the Cardinal could find themselves just hanging on enough to win at -155 odds, but I like this game to be close especially with an underrated Golden Panthers squad looking to this match-up as one of their potential road upsets this season.
With that contest just about to kick off however, we’ll turn to the West Coast game tonight set for 10:30 PM ET, as the Arizona State Sun Devils welcome the #21-ranked Missouri Tigers to Sun Devil Stadium in Tempe, Arizona. Missouri starts a new face at Quarterback in sophomore James Franklin, who has big shoes to fill following the 3 previous Tiger QB’s that are now playing in the NFL, including this year’s #10 overall pick Blaine Gabbert. While Franklin wasn’t all too impressive in Missouri’s close victory over Miami (OH) in Week 1, he’ll look to improve tonight in a non-conference match-up against ASU, in the hopes to keep the Tiger’s 23-game non-conference winning streak alive. Against the Sun Devils though, who put up 517 yards of total offense last week against UC Davis (versus the Tiger’s 291 yards), the injury-depleted Missouri squad could have their hands full on the road, especially as Arizona State will seek to knock off a Top 25-ranked team in their bid to move amongst the best in the nation.
Betting lines for Arizona State vs. #21 Missouri:
Bodog Sportsbook (read the review of Bodog Sportsbook) surprisingly holds Arizona State at a 10 point favorite in the game tonight, with -360 odds to win. Missouri is a +280 underdog on the road tonight, and the over/under for the contest stands at 52 points.
With Arizona State’s 6’8″ QB Brock Osweiler already showing great leadership ability for the Sun Devils this year, tonight is his best opportunity thus far on a national stage to prove that ASU belongs in the top echelon of NCAA Football. Look for ASU’s Cameron Marshall at running back to feature heavily in both the run game and the passing game tonight, as the holes in Missouri’s defensive unit are likely to be exposed against this effective ASU offense.
Our Pick to Win:
As one of just a few teams with a real shot to win the Pac-12 southern division this season, this game is huge for Arizona State tonight, and my money will back the Sun Devils at home as the ASU offense simply overpowers the Missouri Tigers. The Tigers did not look sharp at all last week, committing 9 penalties for 81 yards, while no one other than QB James Franklin contributed much of anything by way of offensive production. Look for Arizona State to prevail and cover the points spread in this match-up, but also expect the anemic Missouri offense to keep the points total under 52, while ASU heads to the run game to run out clock towards the end of the contest.
