NFL Playoffs Get Underway, College, NBA Hoops Light up …

The start of the NFL Playoffs is officially here folks, and with it comes the first opportunities for online sports betting on Wild Card weekend, as a pair of great games are lined up for both Saturday and Sunday, giving sports fans a full weekend of great NFL action and great options for betting on sports at one of the top sportsbooks found here on our website. Before the exciting opening games of Wild Card Weekend get underway this afternoon, it’s an early rise for all the non-stop analysis and pre-game commentary from the talking sports heads, as well as the ever-important sports betting entries placed at a featured sportsbook of the day, this time getting underway at Betonline Sportsbook. As only a handful of football games remain this year between NFL and College Football, every game available is a great opportunity to cash in on the excitement of betting on the most popular sport in the land, before it’s all wrapped up at the beginning of February. Starting off with wagers on the pair of Wild Card games set for today, check out the betting lines at Betonline Sportsbook for the Houston Texans vs. the Cincinnati Bengals, with the Texans seeking a franchise first playoff win, and the Bengals looking for their first win since defeating Houston’s former team, the Oilers, way back in 1991. While Houston enters the game a bit banged up, they’ll have their powerful running back tandem of Arian Foster and Ben Tate sledding away against a Cincy defense that allowed 221 yards rushing in a loss to Baltimore. With the Texans playing some of the best defense of the year, and having to rely mainly on the run as rookie 3rd string QB T.J. Yates will be under center, we’ll look for a low-scoring, grinding game on the ground that puts Houston through to the next round of play, beating the 4 points set against them on the spread at Betonline Sportsbook.

For the second game of the day for NFL wagering at Betonline, check in for a completely opposite game on the offensive side of the football as two of the most pass-happy teams in the league collide tonight at the Superdome in New Orleans. The New Orleans Saints will welcome the Detroit Lions into their house where the Saints have been destroying teams all year, winning all 8 home games for the first time in history, and coming in off 8 straight wins overall to finish the season with 13 wins. As the Detroit Lions look to avenge a previous 31-17 loss at New Orleans back in early December, the Saints will seek to continue their impressive scoring at home, racking up an average of 42.4 points per game, and use record-setting quarterback Drew Brees’ outstanding abilities to lead them towards victory once again. Detroit simply has to do better at controlling emotion and limiting silly penalties in this game, and find a way to generate enough offense against the top-rated passing attack in the NFL. While Matt Stafford has been outstanding this season with over 5,000 yards and 41 TDs thrown, getting into a straight shoot-out with Brees is not going to work well, as was evident in Detroit’s last minute loss to Green Bay last weekend. While Detroit’s game plan should hinge on a more balanced approach to keep the ball out of the Saints hands as much as possible, they’ll struggle to keep up with an offense that can score at will, and has the rockin’ NOLA crowd behind them every step of the way. Look out for a solid New Orleans win, but playing catch-up I like Detroit to sneak in and cover the 10 1/2 points of cushion given to them on the spread.

With Football set in place, we look towards the massive pile of 140 + games happening in NCAA Basketball, and set sights for a couple of wagers on the top teams in the nation with the most statistical and analytical information available to them. In the first of a few big games that haven’t already tipped off early this morning, #6 Missouri and #22 Kansas State gets set to tip-off just momentarily, in what should be a great challenge for a very talented Tigers team led by Marcus Denmon and Kim English. Expect KSU to give Mizzou a real challenge, but fall just short as they struggle to contain all the assets available to the Tigers today. #1 Syracuse plays host to #20 Marquette as the Orangemen seek their 16th straight win on the season in what should be another outstanding College Hoops showdown, and look for a game with possible upset potential as #7 Ohio State heads to hostile territory in a battle with Big Ten rival Iowa. Check out a few other quality match-ups featuring top teams as Notre Dame and #10 Louisville get set to tip-off this afternoon, #15 Kansas heads to Oklahoma to take on the Sooners, #8 UConn will play at Rutgers and #16 Mississippi State will get a good challenge out of Arkansas, who is 11-1 this year on their home court.

Lastly for Saturday, we have a series of worthwhile wagers on the NBA Basketball games in store, as well as a good crop of action for NHL Hockey, which features 13 games on ice throughout the day. For the best betting options on NBA Hoops today, look for a great rematch between the red-hot Chicago Bulls and the Atlanta Hawks, expect the Miami Heat to cover the spread against a flailing New Jersey Nets squad, and catch a pair of solid late games as the San Antonio Spurs host the Denver Nuggets and the Oklahoma City Thunder prepare for a road match-up with the Houston Rockets. Find a slew of great hockey picks as well for online sports betting at Betonline Sportsbook, including East Coast battles between the Pittsburgh Penguins and New Jersey Devils, Toronto Maple Leafs and Detroit Red Wings as well as the Winnipeg Jets taking on the Buffalo Sabres. There’s certainly more than enough action for at least a few quality picks at one of the best online sportsbooks reviewed here, so dive into the action at Betonline, or any of the other top sportsbooks lined up for you, and jump into a great day of sports while hopefully getting to relax and take in the wealth of games ahead this afternoon and evening!
