NFL Week 15 Numbers Show the OVER is Dominating

The numbers in the NFL repeat themselves each week, never the same, and rarely what you or anyone else expects.

  • Week 15 was dominated by the OVER for the second consecutive week with 10 of the 16 games ending above their point totals. For this season, the OVER has cashed 54.6% of the time. Since the start of October, that rate is even higher at 56.5%. The lowest total for Week 16 posted currently is 41 and that is Cleveland vs. Jets.
  • The Detroit Lions started their 2011 season 5-0 SU and 4-1 ATS, but since then are 16-25 SU and 14-27-1 ATS. This season Detroit is 6-8 ATS following its loss outright to Baltimore Monday Night as a 5.5-point favorite
  • Three division leaders took it on the chin in Week 15. Denver was knocked off by San Diego, which was a 10-point underdog, Philadelphia lost to Minnesota, which was a 7-point underdog and New Orleans was stunned by St. Louis, which was also a 7-point underdog.
  • Seattle continues its amazing run as the clear favorite in the NFC to reach the Super Bowl. The Seahawks were able to shutdown the New York Giants on Sunday 23-0 to cover for the fifth straight game.
  • The New England Patriots and New Orleans Saints are a combined 2-12 ATS on the road this season, with each having identical 1-6 ATS results.
  • Miami is 3-0 SU and ATS over its past three games and has a covered in five straight games. Currently Miami is 9-5 ATS and with another cover will hit double digits in ATS win for just the first time in 12 seasons.
  • Minnesota even with his carousal of quarterbacks is an impressive 6-1 ATS over its past 7 games played. The only game the Vikings lost against the spread was to Seattle during that run.
  • Houston is 3-11 ATS, which is the worst in the NFL. On Sunday, they face the Denver Broncos as an 11-point dog. Houston’s season has darkened each week over their 12-game losing streak.
  • Nine out of the 14 games for the Saints have finished UNDER. The only other team with as many games UNDER is the Carolina Panthers. This seems odd as the season has been percentage wise an OVER season, but New Orleans has been a bad play on the OVER.
  • The Dallas Cowboys started strong ATS at 7-1, but since then are a dismal 1-5 ATS. Since October 15, when they defeated Washington ATS, the Cowboys have not covered as a favorite. This week the line has Dallas as a favorite by 3 points at Washington.
