The Seattle Seahawks host the laughing stock of the NFL Sunday the Jacksonville Jaguars. Seattle after their dominant victory last week against San Francisco raised their record to 2-0 SU and AT and is favored by 19.5 points with the total points on 40.5.
The Jaguars, 0-2 SU and ATS, have nothing to be positive about on either side of the ball after the first two games of the season.
The line on Sunday opened for some sites like Bovada and Sportsbook.com at 17 and on other sites like betonline and topbet at 17.5, but that was prior to Seattle giving a beating to the 49ers late Sunday night.
When the line reopened following the Sunday night game, 19.5 and even 20 was the norm. Some underdog money has been placed with those high numbers, as some books have made adjustments of a half-point. As late as Thursday night the total was fluctuating between 40.5 and 41.
Over their past 10 games overall, Jacksonville is 2-8 ATS. The UNDER for the total points has cashed out in 7 of the past 10 games played by Jacksonville.
The Seahawks are 8-0 ATS over their past 8 games overall.
The two teams last played in 2009. The Seahawks routed the Jaguars in that game 41-0, easily covering.
Not only was Jacksonville blown out against Kansas City in week one 28-2 but in week 2 lost to Oakland 19-9.
In addition, three of their top players, Marcedes Lewis, Maurice Jones-Drew and quarterback Blaine Gabbert have injuries. Lewis and Gabbert are expected to miss the game, while Jones-Drew is expected to play.
Jacksonville has scored one offensive touchdown and that was late in the fourth quarter against Oakland when the game was already in-hand. Defensively they ranked No. 25 overall but have performed better than the offense.
The Seahawks have won two games in impressive fashion, with their defense carrying the load. Seattle defeated Carolina 12-7 against Carolina in week 1 and last week’s blowout of San Francisco 29-3.
They are now the new favorite to win the Super Bowl, with their defense secondary playing the best in the league. Offensively they are a bit to be desired but put Percy Harvin into the mix midway through the season and watch out.
Spreads as high as this, do not come often. Only nine times during the regular season have spreads been higher than this one.
Out of those nine only once the favorite covered, beware.
However, the difference between the Jaguars and the Seahawks as far as talent is very wide and the score will indicate that tonight.
Pick: Seahawks 27-0
