It’s a quiet beginning to a new week of sports action and online sports betting, but after a weekend jam-packed with more games to wager on than one would know what to do with, Monday’s relaxed schedule comes as a bit of a blessing to welcome us back into a new week. Set for today is a pair of Game 3′s in the American League Division Series races, as the New York Yankees and Detroit Tigers quickly change up venues (after an opening-series rain delay), with the series knotted at 1 game apiece after last night’s rainy 5-3 win by the Tigers. We get back to square one in the pitching match-ups as well, as Game 1 starters Justin Verlander (24-5, 2.40 ERA in the regular season) stands back up on the mound against C.C. Sabathia (19-8, 3.00 ERA), with both pitchers looking to get off to a better start than the run they allowed in the first inning of work to start the series in Game 1. Verlander looks to clearly have an advantage against the heart of the Yankee lineup, which is hitting .178 lifetime between hitters 2 through 5, and at home Detroit will likely continue to swing confident bats as they did last night led by Miguel Cabrera’s 3-for-4 outing with 3 RBIs and a 2-run home run. After generating just 5 hits and being shut down by starter Max Scherzer, the Yankees will be hoping to find a weak link in Verlander’s armor tonight, as they’ll need it with the next two games in Detroit and a possibility of a Tigers’ clinch at home if they can win two straight there.
Moving on to the next match-up for the Major League Baseball playoffs, the second ALDS match-up between the Tampa Bay Rays and the Texas Rangers shifts to South Florida tonight, with the Rays hosting the Rangers and the series tied up 1-1. It’s going to be a big test tonight for Tampa Bay starter David Price (12-13, 3.49 ERA), who hasn’t won a ballgame in more than a month, lost twice in the opening round of last year’s playoffs, and hasn’t beaten Texas yet in his career (0-3, 5.67 ERA in six starts). There’s no time like now for that to change, as Price and the Rays take to their home turf at the juice box that is Tropicana Field, but will have to contend with Colby Lewis for the Rangers, who is 3-0 lifetime against the Rays and in his only outing this season against them through an impressive 8 shutdown innings with just 4 hits allowed. Interestingly enough, only 5 players on the Tampa Bay roster have ever recorded a hit against Lewis, so the Rays will need to change a little history in order to take the advantage in this series tonight.
After checking out some online sportsbook betting lines for Major League Baseball today at one of the best sportsbooks reviewed here, make sure to make your mark on the Monday Night Football match-up between the Indianapolis Colts (0-3) and the Tampa Bay Buccaneers (2-1), by checking out some lines on the game set for this evening. In tonight’s contest, the Colts will look to avoid the worst start since 1998, and may have a tough time doing so with both Peyton Manning and back-up QB Kerry Collins out of this game. 3rd stringer Curtis Painter will get the reins of the Colts offense tonight in his first NFL start, but will face an uphill battle behind an offense that ranks 28th in scoring (15.3 points per game), and a defense that is giving up 28 points a game (29th in the league). Though Indy is 9-2 all-time in Monday Night Football games, the Tampa Bay Bucs at home provide a tough challenge to a continuing winning trend for the Colts, as they come off a gutsy 16-13 win over Atlanta last week, and look to win three straight after an opening week loss to the undefeated Detroit Lions.
