Snapshot of Week 1 Point Spreads and Point Totals

The NFL 2014 regular season starts this week with the opening game on Thursday between the defending Super Bowl champion Seattle Seahawks and the Green Bay Packers.

The lines for the first week of the NFL were first released on Bovada and betonline line back in April.

The lines have changed since then and continue to change leading up to the kick offs on Thursday, Sunday and Monday.

Interesting Week 1 Matchups

The Packers visit the Seahawks to play at very tough CenturyLink field where the crowd is the loudest in the league.

The current line has Seattle -5.5, with the point total on topbet and sporstbook.com at 46.When the line opened in April Seattle was -5 and the points were 45.

Seattle has a record of 6-0 ATS when they are a favorite of less than one touchdown over the last two seasons.

The Cleveland Browns visit AFC North rivals the Pittsburgh Steelers on Sunday. The current line has Pittsburgh -6.5 with the point total on 40.5.

The past two seasons the Steelers have covered larger spreads at home versus Cleveland – last season -9.5 and in 2012 -10.

Another big AFC North matchup has the Baltimore Ravens hosting the Cincinnati Bengals. The current line has Baltimore -2 with the point total on 43.

Baltimore opened at -2.5 with the points on 43.5.

Last season, the Ravens defeated the Bengals at home in overtime 20-17 to cover a spread of 1 point. Last season Cincinnati was a good team to wager on at home, but on the road were 2-5-1 ATS.

The New England Patriots open their season on the road against AFC East rivals the Miami Dolphins. The current line has New England -5 and the point total at 47.5.

The line opened New England -3.5 and 47 points.

Miami as a favorite at home by 2.5 points, beat the Patriots last December 24-20. Last season, New England was 1-4 ATS on the road when laying points.

The San Francisco 49ers visit the Dallas Cowboys on Sunday. The current line has San Francisco -5 with the points sitting on 51. The line when first released had San Francisco at -3.5 and the points on 48.5.

The betting public and bookmakers are down more on Dallas than likely every other NFL team.

The Indianapolis Colts visit the Denver Broncos for the first Sunday night game of the season. The Broncos are currently -7 with the point total on 55.5. The opening numbers were identical to the current numbers.

With Peyton Manning under center, the Broncos are 10-4-1 against the number as a favorite at home during the regular season. Two of the losses ATS were to San Diego and one against Jacksonville when the Broncos were 26.5-point favorites.

Plenty of other games are on the schedule for the Week 1 of the NFL, but these are just a quick snapshot of what football fans have to look forward to.
