It seems as though the spring playoff season has just started, and it has, however Thursday’s NHL games have already seen the demise of two more great teams, bringing the total to three the number of teams advancing to the playoffs. The Ottawa Senators have shrugged a very big monkey of their backs this evening, taking down the Pittsburgh Penguins handily 3-0 to clinch a 4-1 series win. I’m certainly glad that Ottawa came through tonight however, as they were included in a three team parlay bet placed at Playersonly.com before the games today. What I can’t really be glad about, is the fact that the Canucks lost in a heartbreaking 1-0 overtime game, subsequently destroying that three team parlay that Ottawa had helped to keep alive. The first round of the NHL playoffs has been good to my sportsbook betting but admittedly, seeing your favorite team get shut down at home is never a good game to watch. Oh well, you win some, and you lose some. It was however, a fantastic spectacle between two outstanding goalies, and exciting to the last moment. Look for this series to go all the way to a game seven, especially if Dallas keeps shutting down the Canuck power play like they have done thus far.
I don’t know about you, but the excitement is getting a little out of hand for the NBA playoffs coming up this weekend. Maybe that’s just me, but I have already placed a few wagers on the first playoff games starting this Saturday, taking Houston, Detroit, and Miami to come out on top in their games against Utah, Orlando, and Chicago respectively. If you plan to do a little betting on sports this weekend, make sure to get your wagers in for the first game of the NBA playoffs. For the first time in what seems to be a very LONG time, these first round match-ups look to be really well matched competitors. I’m certainly not saying that there won’t be a few blowout series ahead, but regardless of seeding, these teams stack up very well against one another and should amount to some great online sports betting. Well, maybe an exception could be between the Phoenix Suns and the Los Angeles Lakers. As Phil Jackson limps to the post season with his career-lowest regular season record, the Phoenix Suns, who are playing great team ball, should roll right over the one-player dominant Lakers. I would almost bet on a 4 game sweep by the Suns.but you never know what could happen.
