Enough chatter, on to the games. The Lakers start out their series with Utah at home, and you have to think the Lakers will take two at home. They certainly don’t want to get to Salt Lake City even, especially with the way the Jazz plays at home, with a clutch player like Deron Williams at the helm. Either way, Lakers are favored heavily and for good reason today. I’m counting on a big scoring game and a big 1-0 early series advantage for LA. Down South today, the Magic host the 76ers for the first game of the series and I just don’t see any upset happening in this one. Dwight Howard and Co. is well rested, and unlike Boston’s shocking loss last night to Chicago, the Magic won’t suffer the same fate today. The Nuggets and Hornets will be a great series, and I’m counting on the Hornets to covers the spread today. In the fourth game of the day, the Heat puddle jump to Atlanta for the first game against the Hawks, with Atlanta favored. Dwayne Wade will have to be the anchor for the team in scoring, and as such the series will be balanced dependent on how he plays. I like Atlanta’s mix of experience and youth in their lineup, and have them as the overall victor in this series.

Of note, there are some more great games in the NHL playoffs, with Philadelphia facing a must win in their home opener, down 2-0. The Blues also face a must win against Vancouver, down 2-0 as well. The Sharks look to even the score against the Ducks, and the Devils and Hurricanes will end a 1-1 series stalemate one way or another tonight.
