The race for the NL west has three teams within one game of each other, and each game will be just as critical for these teams as any divisional games on down the road. I'll ride the Dodgers tonight against the Reds, but take the Rockies to get beat by the Cubs, who are in a race of their own. San Diego plays St. Louis tonight, which is a tough call with the Cardinals at home. Joel Piniero, a fomer Mariner (and Red Sock now) gets the start for the Cards tonight, and I just couldn't resist throwing a little money at him. With my last pick of the night, I'm taking a bet on the pitching duel between the Atlanta Braves and the New York Mets. Although it may be foolish to bet on games with two solid pitchers and two solid teams, I just can't get away from trying to call a good pitching match-up. For five bucks, it'll be an interesting trial and error, and I'm taking Tim Hudson over John Maine in this showdown. So now all that's left is the waiting game, as my online sportsbook bets have been placed, and the afternoon's games are just about to begin.
