Saturday in Las Vegas and some NCAA basketball wagers

Now I don’t mean to gloat or anything, but being in Las Vegas is so ridiculously awesome! It’s a gorgeous Saturday evening and I’m in between playing some roulette, Texas hold ‘em, and blackjack, soon to be on my way to dinner and a late night show. I will say that although has the best online casinos and sportsbook on the internet, there is no substitute for the real thing.  Hearing the rings, clangs and whirs of the slot machines, seeing the dealers dressed in jerseys for the Superbowl, and gulping down every last free drink you can get your hands on is just about the best thing any kind of sporting nut dreams about.  I find myself up a simple 75 dollars, and that means a trip to the casino to take another bet on the big game tomorrow afternoon. 20 bucks later, and I’m taking under on the total points at 47.5. I can only hope that my prediction of a low scoring first half will come to fruition and that defensive play of the Indianapolis Colts can hold over the course of the game. Besides, if it doesn’t I’m betting with the casino’s money anyways so it won’t put any whole in my pocket.

A quick note to all you college basketball nuts? Today was not to be missed, as I’m sure you are already aware. With just about every top 25 basketball team in action including one big match-up between Texas A&M and Kansas, there was plenty to wager on in our featured sportsbooks. As is true with most Saturdays, no matter where you are, there is bound to be a great rivalry close to home to make for the start of a great weekend of sports. I had taken a few wagers out this afternoon, one on, and the other on, taking Texas Tech to beat the Kansas Jayhawks for the first time, and BYU to beat UNLV. I figured it would be fitting to bet on a Las Vegas team if I could, even if I’m betting against them today. Now I admit that I can rarely pick underdogs correctly, but I guess luck is on my side this weekend as both Texas Tech and BYU came up big for me. I know that the money is in my online account, but it is comforting to know that if I go down big in Vegas, I’ll still have a little to come home to!

With that, I’m out the door and headed to the Mirage for our late show. I’ll catch you again tomorrow night after the game, and hopefully you’ll have good luck with your wagers for Superbowl XLI. Whoever wins, it’s pretty much guaranteed to be a great game, and a great day.
