In a lighter day for online sports betting at one of the top sportsbooks reviewed on our website, we turn to one of the best in the business for quick and easy sports betting, at the WagerWeb Sportsbook (read the review of WagerWeb Sportsbook). Featuring today’s mix of 7 NBA Basketball match-ups, 6 NHL games in play, as well as a few Top 25 teams in NCAA College Basketball, we’ll pepper in a number of the better looking wagers today, in the hopes of coming out victorious at the WagerWeb sportsbook today. Starting with a look at Top 25 action in the NCAA right away, we’re putting together an opening wager by going parlay on the three Top 25 teams in action today, as #6 San Diego State hosts Utah in a Mountain West battle, #18 Kentucky takes on Tennessee, and #12 Purdue hosts Indiana in a Big Ten match-up. As expected, with the Top 25 teams all at home today there are huge favorites leaning on these teams, but good opportunities to look for a win taking over/under wagers on total points, as well as bets on the spread in the match-ups at hand. Counting on double digit victories across the board for the parlay wager to open the betting at WagerWeb today, we’ll start with backing San Diego State at home, as they’ve completely dominated all MWC competition, aside from a tough loss to BYU (which is undoubtedly a great team this season). Having an easy go with Utah, look for SDSU to come up big and easily cover the spread in the first match-up. Secondly, with Purdue playing strong defense on home court, we’ll shoot for the under wager on points as they look to contain and Indiana team still missing two starters, Maurice Creek and Christian Watford, for the match-up today. Lastly, Kentucky should dominate at home over the visiting Volunteers, yet we’ll go with Tennessee to cover the spread in the final bet on NCAA Hoops today.
Moving to the professional leagues for more wagers today, we turn first to the NBA with a few interesting match-ups worth looking at. First up, Oklahoma City hosts a surging Memphis Grizzlies squad, though Memphis will be without the 20 points Rudy Gay puts up nightly due to a sprained big tow. However, Memphis has been able to spread the ball around and get scoring from good depth, which could make this a close match-up, and a worthwhile bet taking Memphis to cover their underdog status on the spread and keep this one tight to the finish. For the second good looking pick of the day, the Minnesota Timberwolves and Houston Rockets will test the over/under as neither team has shown any defensive prowess, but has been able to put up big points in either a winning or losing effort just about every night. In a big test for the newly-resurgent Indiana Pacers, Miami will look to strong play at home from their big three to take down the Frank Vogel-helmed Pacers, who will try to remain undefeated still under their new head coach. Tonight might just be the night the streak stops, as Indiana has little answer for LeBron James, but count on a close match-up as no doubt the Pacers will stay scrappy until the end of the game. Lastly for bets on the NBA, we’ll go with the upstart 76ers on the road against an Al Horford-less Hawks squad, and the Milwaukee Bucks to cover the points spread as they host a miserable Toronto Raptors team.
Heading to the final wagers on the day featuring NHL Hockey action, the Pittsburgh Penguins face a tough challenge as they’re short-handed at home down Sidney Crosby, Evgeni Malkin and possibly even Chris Kunitz. Against a stingy Columbus Blue Jackets team that’s been strong in low scoring games behind Steve Mason in net, Pittsburgh may struggle to come up with a win without three of their leading scorers, who have accounted for 65 goals this season. We’ll go with the under wager on total points here, but look for a sneaky chance at a road win for Columbus as they’ll look to contain the rest of the Pens minus their stars today. In another interesting match-up, the Washington Capitals play host to the San Jose Sharks, with Antti Niemi looking for a back-to-back shutout after shutting the door against Boston on Saturday. He’ll find tougher going tonight against Alex Ovechkin and the home standing Caps, but again the under wager on total points at 5.5 look like a solid pick to net a wager win here today. In one other likely low-scoring match-up, find two great goalies in net as Florida hosting St. Louis, with Tomas Voukun facing off against Jaroslav Halak, one of my favorite net minders in the NHL. With the Blues looking to end their 4-game road losing streak, look for Halak to be on point against Florida, which while always pretty good on defense, have had their Achilles’ heel exposed with a lack of offensive production. Again, a low-scoring affair looks highly plausible in this one, but we’ll go with St. Louis to get back to winning on the road with this favorable match-up today.
