Tuesday brings NBA Basketball back into the forefront, and with it another day of speculation over trade rumors, including one big announcement that Carmelo Anthony, star forward for the Denver Nuggets, will be taking his talent, along with Chauncey Billups’ to Madison Square Garden to suit up for the New York Knicks. Exciting as it may be, whether or not the move equates to the Knicks being able to make a run at the playoffs is yet to be known, as in other big-trade instances (the Big Three comes to mind) it took upwards of 30 games in order for the new pieces to fit the existing puzzle. However, with this adding a little excitement to the NBA world as we commence the shorter second half of the season today, NBA basketball should be worth an opening wager or two at featured top sportsbook reviewed here at Bookmaker Sportsbook (read the review of Bookmaker Sportsbook), as 9 great contests are slated for action throughout the course of Tuesday. Always a great place to do your sports betting, Bookmaker sportsbook has quickly become one of the go-to betting destinations for sports picks each and every week, furnishing a clean, easy-to-use-and-navigate website, with plenty of extended options for wagering on each and every contest in sports available throughout the world on any given day.
For NBA picks to lead our foray into online sports betting today, we work backwards from the latest game between the Los Angeles Lakers and the Atlanta Hawks, as the home team Lakers try to regain footing after dropping their last three straight road games. Looking to come off strong after the All-Star Break after last week’s terrible loss to Cleveland, the Lakers get a good home draw against a Hawks team that has lost four in a row at Staples Center. With LA coming home after a long road trip, and the Hawks just starting out on a 5 game trip of their own, our first wager has to take the Lakers with the points here, as they’ll look to clamp down on Al Horford and Joe Johnson while getting their defense prepped for a better last push towards the playoffs. Moving on to additional looks for betting on sports for NBA Hoops, find the newly Carmelo-less Denver Nuggets hosting the Memphis Grizzlies which should amount to a decent test of the over/under total posted at Bookmaker Sportsbook, Boston opens on the road at Golden State, in a good match-up between a hot Warriors squad (coming in to tonight’s game winning 7 of their last 9), and a Boston team looking to make a statement to start the run to the home stretch. Once again, we’re betting defense is the name of the game, and since Golden State really has none, Boston gets our nod for a win, while keeping the Warriors’ scoring down enough to stay under the total points today. With a few additional picks available between non-contenders, take a quick perusal over the remaining NBA options to see if there are any options that could net you some capital gains today.
Switching it up with a few wagers on UEFA Champions League play today, we’re going with Chelsea to cover the 1 1/2 goal differential versus an underdog FC Copenhagen squad that likely won’t have an answer to the attacking power led by Nicolas Anelka and Didier Drogba this evening. Chelsea, while slipping in English Premier League play as of late, seek a defining win in today’s clash, to get them started in the right direction heading through the round of 16 in Champions League play, and to build confidence before a key EPL match versus Manchester United next week. In the second match-up featuring Lyon from the French Ligue 1 and Real Madrid from La Liga, count on a tight game between two top-tier teams to make a good shot at securing the under wager on goals at 2.5. With neither team facing a must-win situation here today, defense looks like the name of the game, as home-team Lyon will try to contain a Real side intent on revenge from last season’s ouster by Lyon on their home pitch. With both squads looking in good shape heading in, this could easily be one of the better matches of the week in European Soccer.
Lastly, we turn to remaining wagers for NHL Hockey today, as well as a few additional opportunities found for wagers on NCAA Basketball, first with 10 games on the docket for the NHL, followed by 4 games featuring top 25 teams in College Hoops today. With Vancouver hosting Montreal, look for great goaltender match-up as Chris Price tries to improve his Habs’ record at Vancouver as they take on Roberto Luongo and the best in the NHL Canucks. Montreal has not recorded a win in Vancouver in a decade (yes, that’s right, 10 YEARS), but with B.C. native Price looking to change that tonight, expect a tight, low scoring game between two of the best teams in the league. I’ll have to hedge a wager on my Canucks here tonight, as they start regaining their defensive prowess after suffering a few injuries as of late (Dan Hamhuis comes back for the Nucks tonight after 5 games out due to concussion), and will hope the streak stays alive versus Montreal at home. Look for other good pick-ups as Phoenix takes it’s impressive winning run on the road to Philadelphia, Detroit does battle at San Jose versus the Sharks, and New Jersey heads to Dallas looking for an impressive 8th win in a row against the Stars. With a few good NCAA Basketball picks including Tennessee at #18 Vanderbilt as well as #3 Ohio State hosting Illinois and a good match-up between former Top 25 teams Michigan State and Minnesota, there should be plenty of sports betting options worthy of placing on your betting ticket at Bookmaker.com today.
