Sportsbook betting update for Saturday, featuring Major …

It’s a wonderful weekend packed full of barbeques, lawn games and plenty of day drinking during the 4th of July holiday, and the afternoon here in sunny ol’ California is perfect as usual, as are the opportunities for betting on sports at one of the best online sports betting sites reviewed here! With another weekend comes another great offering of Major League Baseball action for betting on sports today, but in addition sports fans can find some exciting action in the 2011 Women’s World Cup from Germany, with the United States playing Colombia and the supposedly lightning-struck North Koreans facing Sweden in Group C competition. With my evening all booked up with festivities, it’s a quick little catch-up into today’s online sportsbook action, and off to a day of too many beers, too much food, and hopefully a ton of great fireworks! For today’s sportsbook betting, it’s back to one of the top sportsbooks we offer for review here on our site, at Players Only sportsbook (read the review of, and with a number of awaiting baseball games on tap, it’s a great place for any sports betting fan to get acquainted with the day’s possible wagers. A fan since I’ve started wagering at online sportsbooks, I recommend Players Only Sportsbook to anyone looking to wager at a safe, professional, and most of all fun, online sportsbook today!

For sports betting on tap today in Major League Baseball, take a look at the top match-ups in Interleague play this afternoon and evening, starting first with games in National League parks. There’s a great battle in Chicago as the White Sox head to Wrigley Field to take on the Cubs, and with two improving starting pitchers in Phil Humber for the Sox and Matt Garza for the Cubs, expect a tight game with low scoring at the storied ballpark today. In Cincinnati, the Reds host the Cleveland Indians for an Ohioan challenge featuring Fausto Carmona vs. Homer Bailey, which could see some run production as both pitchers have struggled to keep the runs down in their last three outings. In New York once again, the Mets host the Yankees in the Subway Series, with Bartolo Colon getting his first start back since being placed on the DL a few weeks back, and will face Dillon Gee, one of this year’s surprise pitchers (8-1, 3.32 ERA). Though it’s lopsided on the betting lines at Players Only today as far as match-ups go, the Boston vs. Houston match-up should in fact be easily won by Boston, especially when considering the Astros’ starter J.A. Happ’s numbers (3-9, 5.54 ERA), and should make for a good wager taking the over bet on total runs. Look also for the Atlanta Braves to pick up a 5th straight win at home tonight against the Orioles, but expect quality pitching to keep the game tight as Tim Hudson faces Jake Arrieta, with the advantage to Hudson who hasn’t given up a run in his last two outings.

Switching to the action in the American League stadiums today, the Seattle Mariners host the San Diego Padres with Doug Fister trying to get any support he can (3-8, 3.18 ERA), versus Cory Luebeke who’s been switched from the bullpen to starter. San Francisco vs. Detroit should make for a good match-up for the home team as Barry Zito looks to build on a quality first start back into the rotation, and faces Max Scherzer for the Tigers, who while holding a 9-3 record, has been seeing his ERA dwindle consistently since May. Find a fun match-up in the north as the Toronto Blue Jays welcome back their former ace Roy Halladay as the Jays face the Philadelphia Phillies, Milwaukee tries to improve it’s road form at Minnesota, and down in Cali tonight, the Los Angeles Dodgers face the Los Angeles Angels in a great match-up featuring Clayton Kershaw against Jered Weaver. Great baseball action is available to all sportsbook betting fans throughout the weekend and regardless of whether you are in the U.S. celebrating, or anywhere else going about business as usual, this Saturday’s games are a prime example of some of the great match-ups in store for betting on baseball.
