As the Stanley Cup Finals wrap up tomorrow and ends the spring playoff season, we look towards a summer filled with baseball ahead, with Major League Baseball taking up most of the room on our online sportsbook betting tickets from here into the foreseeable future. Though we’ll have plenty of instances where options will be present for betting on sports (including the upcoming College World Series, the continuing NASCAR Sprint Cup Series, PGA Tour Golf, etc.), it’s time to hone in on the action in the MLB, as the series makes its way towards the All-Star break and a number of teams start to emerge as playoff candidates and solid trends for sportsbook bets come to light. As we head back to the top sportsbook at Intertops.com sportsbook (read the review of Intertops.com) today, we’ll take a look at the 15 games slated for pro baseball tonight, with new series all over the board, and plenty of opportunities to cash in on recent trends, favorable pitching match-ups, and teams that are simply putting up big numbers on the scoreboard. Featuring one of the widest ranging set of options for today’s match-ups, as well as future wagers, props, parlays and more, Intertops Sportsbook is a great place to start out your foray into online sports betting if it happens to be your first time, or a great site to transfer over to in order to take advantage of all the choices offered by one of the oldest and most trusted sports betting websites in the business.
For our first sports betting look of the day, we turn to the series between the Florida Marlins and the Philadelphia Phillies, with Chris Volstad facing Cole Hamels live from Citizen’s Bank Park. Hamels seeks to join fellow ace Roy Halladay as the MLB’s only two 9-game winners so far this year, and has been pitching at the top of his game over the past month (4-0, 1.70 ERA since May 18th), meanwhile Chris Volstad continues to struggle going 0-4 with a 5.14 ERA during the same span (also going 0-2 with a 6.33 in his last 5 starts against Philly). With the Marlins searching for a return to the win column, they’ll have a tough time doing it this evening, and we’ll eye Hamels to secure a victory, and the Phillies to cover the -1.5 runs at +100. Next up is a great pitching duel as the Texas Rangers and New York Yankees begin a new series in the Bronx, with the Yankees’ C.C. Sabathia taking on one of the hottest pitchers in the AL, Alexi Ogando, who goes for 8-0 tonight. Though Ogando has been one of the best pitchers in the league, the Rangers’ staff as a whole have struggled against New York, going 4-8 at the New Yankee Stadium, and posting a 6.34 ERA during that span. Coming off a tough series loss against Minnesota, the Rangers bats also need to improve, as Josh Hamilton, Michael Young and Nelson Cruz are all hitting under .255 in the past 2 weeks. The over/under for the game posted at 8 runs seems awfully high with the pitching quality as well as the Rangers offensive struggles, however with both bullpens struggling, we’ll take a position on the over bet at +100, as well as a bet on Texas to win at +127.
Checking out some additional wagers in Major League Baseball today, Cleveland and Detroit battle for 1st in the AL Central, and start their series off with a great match-up featuring Justin Masterson (5-4, 3.18 ERA) vs. Justin Verlander (7-3, 2.89 ERA). With the Detroit offense leading the league and the Tigers 7-3 in their last 10 while The Tribe falls back to reality losing 8 of their last 10 games, this game is the Tigers to take tonight, banking on the Indians continuing inability to score runs and figure out Verlander (6-1, 2.90 ERA in last 9 starts against Cleveland). We’ll put a mark down at Intertops Sportsbook taking the Tigers -1.5 runs at +120 here. Look next to another red-hot pitcher in Atlanta’s Jair Jurrjens (8-2, 1.82 ERA), who looks to bounce back against the New York Mets at home after a June 4th loss at Citi Field. At home, Jurrjens is 5-0 with a 1.38 ERA against the Mets. ‘Nuff said. Set your sights on low scoring, especially with Jonathon Niese opposite Jurrjens (3-1, 1.34 ERA in last 5 against the Braves), with a safe under 7 runs wager at -110, and we’ll take the Braves to cover the -1.5 runs as well, at +150, looking for a 3-1 or 4-2 ballgame. Other match-ups worthy of online sports betting today include wagering on the hot hand of Yovani Gallardo, who looks to bounce back after his only loss in 7 outings last Thursday and should have a favorable time doing so against Randy Wells who has been awful since coming off the disabled list. Prince Fielder is one to watch in this series, hitting .395 with 8 home runs and 16 RBIs in his last 14 games, and should get the Brewers off to a great start in this series today. Make sure to peruse the betting options for the Los Angeles Dodgers vs. Cincinnati Reds with a great pitching duel between aces Clayton Kershaw and Johnny Cueto, as well as the Los Angeles Angels vs. Seattle Mariners as Jered Weaver faces Doug Fister, both of which should amount to low-scoring, great pitching outings as well. Until tomorrow, enjoy the baseball betting action at the best sports betting site reviewed at Intertops.com, and good luck grabbing that cash!
