Interleague MLB play continues, College World Series adds …

After a long weekend with plenty of great sports activity, sports fans flock back to the usual work week, hopefully with a bit of extra cash generated off some well-placed wagers at one of the top online sports betting sites reviewed here. However, even though the week has refreshed and we collectively find ourselves slumping back to the daily grind, there are a number of great options for online sportsbook betting to make for an exciting day with the College Baseball World Series in effect, and interleague play in Major League Baseball continuing throughout the week. With the highlight of Monday being the match-ups in the CWS, which comes and goes in a blink of an eye and should not be missed out on by any sports fan, two games are slated on either side of the winners’/losers’ bracket, though with all teams still able to reach the final and secure a title at this point. The opening clash of the day pits North Carolina vs. Texas in a classic showdown, with a freshman sensation Kent Emanuel (8-1, 2.55 ERA) facing Senior Cole Green (8-3, 3.03 ERA), though with both teams facing elimination this afternoon. While Texas is used to playing in elimination games, and has amassed 6 runs per game in 5 elimination wins, I’m looking for North Carolina to prevail with a stronger offensive day today, as they left 16 runners on base against Vanderbilt, and shouldn’t make the same mistake today. Second up for the CWS today on the winner’s side, the Cinderella Vanderbilt Commodores face the Florida Gators, with 2 of the 3 SEC teams meeting after all 3 SEC teams won in the first round of play. Vandy gets a great shot at advancing past a tournament favorite in Florida, as the 59th overall pick in the MLB draft, Grayson Garvin, gets the nod for the underdogs today. However, with Florida advancing after knocking the 13th overall pick Taylor Jungmann in an 8-4 win over Texas on Saturday, this should make for a great match-up to check out, and a close ballgame until the end. Make special note though, Vandy did crush Florida 14-1 in the last meeting where Gavin Grayson was on the mound…

Major League baseball will provide the usual handful of options on Monday as series shift over and 10 games are on tap for teams without the need to travel long distances, so we’ll start with a look across all the action on either side of the NL/AL host team divide for the best bets at one of the best sports betting websites available. Sportsbook.com sportsbook (read the review of Sportsbook.com)will provide the betting lines for my foray into sportsbook betting on baseball today, so after both College World Series games have wagers placed on them already, we’ll turn to the action set up this evening in the pro league. Starting with games in American League Stadiums, 4 games get underway including Colorado at Cleveland, Boston hosting San Diego, Texas vs. Houston in a great intra-state series, and the Chicago White Sox vs. the Chicago Cubs in a classic city battle. For bets across these games, we’re starting with the latter match-up as Gavin Floyd faces Carlos Zambrano, with Floyd being superb in interleague play (5-2, 1.71 ERA in 11 starts), against the loud-mouthed Big Z (0-2, 7.43 ERA against the White Sox in the last 3 starts). For the Colorado vs. Cleveland series, the Rockies bright spot in the rotation, Juan Nicasio hits the hill today against Fausto Carmona, and is my pick to help the Rockies continue their winning ways (losing a tough outing against Justin Verlander and the Tigers, but winning 4 straight beforehand). Boston against San Diego will likely see another powered performance from the Red Sox’ #1 offense, especially with Adrian Gonzalez facing his former team, and look for the Sox to cover the -1.5 runs, and break through the over/under at 10.5 runs.

Looking to games in National League Stadiums, the Los Angeles Dodgers host a fun series with the Detroit Tigers, with a wager taking Clayton Kershaw to beat Brad Penny who faces his former team tonight. In the opening game of the Los Angeles Angels vs. Florida Marlins series, Annibal Sanchez tries to end a 10-game slide for the Fish, but will have to be perfect to get past Jered Weaver who comes off a complete game shutout last Tuesday against Seattle. Cincinnati vs. the New York Yankees finds another great series opening duel between Johnny Cueto and Ivan Nova, Toronto and Atlanta clash with Ricky Romero facing Tim Hudson, and Pittsburgh vs. Baltimore with Charlie Morton facing Jake Arrieta make for additional games with favorable betting lines to check out.
