As we move past the opening stages of the tournament to kick of a great Saturday of online sports betting, as per every year of NCAA Basketball action, a number of great teams won’t be dancing any longer, cut down unexpectedly, yet triumphantly by this year’s Cinderella stories. This year, the new crop of unexpected teams making the next phase of the tournament include Morehead State, victors of a scrappy contest against Louisville, VCU, which handled Georgetown like it’s been to the tournament every year for a decade, and George Mason bumps off Villanova (albeit not as huge a surprise as the other two previously mentioned). Making for exciting action with a little bit of unknown entering the picture, we head towards the round of 32 today with 8 exciting games available for watching and for betting on sports at one of the top online sportsbooks reviewed here. For today’s venture, we’re headed back to one of the best sportsbooks on the internet at the Bodog Sportsbook (read the review of Bodog Sportsbook), featuring as always every game available in a given day anywhere in the world, plus a smart, well-built website which will make betting on NCAA Tournament Basketball games a breeze. If you haven’t taken the opportunity to find out why Bodog Sportsbook is one of the top rated sportsbooks in the world, now’s a great chance to do so, catching all the competitive betting lines listed on their site before the games commence shortly.
First up for sportsbook bets today, the action gets down to the nitty gritty right away with a killer match-up between Bob Huggins’ West Virginia Mountaineers and John Calipari’s youthful Kentucky Wildcats. With Kentucky struggling to pass Princeton 59-57 in the tournament opener, they’ll need better shooting across the board from the likes of Darius Miller, Josh Harrellson, Terrence Jones and Doron Lamb if they want to sneak past a more veteran team in WVU led by Casey Mitchell and Kevin Jones. Kentucky has a 4 point favorite at the Bodog Sportsbook this morning, but taking the upset would reap solid dividends with the Mountaineers +160 on the money line. Since I’ve personally got nothing more to lose in the tournament having my brackets completely busted early on, I’ll shoot for the upset to start this Saturday off with a bang, taking WVU to win. Next up on the NCAA tournament docket, #7 seed UCLA, which knocked off Michigan State on Thursday, will now have to contend with #2 seed Florida which stands to be a much more difficult task to get by. UCLA simply got lucky on a big lead to take down the Spartans, of which luck they’ll run out of today against Billy Donovan’s well-balanced Gator squad anchored in the middle by Chandler Parsons. For the meeting of the higher seeded teams today as #13 Morehead State and #12 Richmond clash, this should make for an interesting showdown between relative unknowns, with both teams getting huge confidence boosts after opening round wins, and coming in with nothing to lose. Richmond is the 5 point favorite for good reason, as their depth is simply stronger than that of the Eagles. Nonetheless, a great match-up to check out today on the betting lines and on TV, as it may be a last chance to watch MSU’s phenom Kenneth Faried in college action.
Up next for NCAA Tournament sportsbook betting, #2 San Diego State looks to its next challenge as #7 Temple comes into focus, with SDSU showing good poise in the first round indicating that they certainly are worthy of a top 2 seed and a good chance towards a run at the Final Four this year. SDSU comes in with a bigger, more physical presence inside, however the guards match-up will be interesting as no doubt Temple will try to pound the perimeter play, though met with an overwhelming attack of Kawhi Leonard, D.J Gay and a supporting cast of Aztecs which will simply overwhelm LaVoy Allen, Ramone Moore and the Temple Owls today. Onward to the next game lined up for betting on sports today, a great match-up between #8 Butler, last season’s 2nd place finisher, and #1 seeded Pittsburgh gets underway at the 7:10 PM ET slot, with the Bulldogs needing all the help they can get after barely sneaking by Old Dominion (a game ODU should have actually won, had it not been for some questionable coaching towards the final seconds of the contest). Pitt is a -8, and for good reason, and Jamie Dixon’s squad will run through Butler with relative ease behind Brad Wanamaker and company. I haven’t been impressed with Butler’s inside play all year, struggling in the paint against bigger, better foes, and unless they can light up from beyond the arc, it’ll be tough going for the Bulldogs against the Panthers tonight.
Rounding out the 8 game field of action slated for the NCAA Round of 32 today, #11 Gonzaga looked solid in their opener as they owned St. John’s, but will get the Jimmer Fredette treatment today facing #3 BYU that is able to put up points at every turn, and can easily run away with a game. The Zag’s get some respect on the spread coming in at -1.5 points, and no doubt this should be a great contest to watch, however tournament experience still counts big this year, and Gonzaga pulls off a victory as BYU leans too heavily on Fredette to pull them together tonight. In the last two pairings of the day, find two great match-ups as #3 UConn and #6 Cincinnati have a rematch of Big East tournament play, and #4 Wisconsin tries it’s hand at the Jacob Pullen-led #5 seeded Kansas State. UConn will once again be too much for the Bearcats, and with an underdog look for KSU getting a +145 on the line and a +3 on the spread, I like Frank Martin’s team to pull through and silence some critics tonight. Find these 8 games, as well as a slew of great NBA Basketball, NHL Hockey, and English Premier League soccer on tap at Bodog Sportsbook today to make for another one of the best online sports betting days in recent memory. Good luck in all your wagers, and get ready for another exciting day of NCAA Tournament action kicking off right now!
