Solid Midweek sportsbook betting action with NHL, NBA, …

With the closure of the Major League Baseball season, we fully shift to the exciting action of winter/spring sports seasons, and as to be expected on any given day there are plenty of options for participating in your favorite sports league. At the midpoint in this first week of November, sports fans can find a full plate of options at one of the top sportsbooks reviewed here, namely a host of 12 games across the NBA, 9 in NHL Hockey, and the always exciting First Phase action in the UEFA Champions League with 8 matches scheduled in the day. Getting underway with the first round of picks on today’s betting choices, the Oddsmaker sportsbook (read the review of gets the top picks in Soccer action, with a three-team parlay taking Ajax over Auxerre, Chelsea over Spartak Moscow, and AS Roma over FC Basel. Still young to the picks on international soccer (or football if you so prefer), and batting just under .500 for the current UEFA Champions League tournament, I’ll hope for a pick-up here today for my Oddsmaker sportsbook account. The action across Europe is always exciting, and in full swing with plenty of sportsbook bets available on national leagues, as well as tournament games, and with back-to-back days of UEFA matches ahead, it’s a fine time to make a play on the top teams fighting it out for tops on the continent.

NBA actions hits the ground running on Wednesday with a slew of options for sportsbook betting, as a few remaining undefeated teams try to make it 5-0, and a couple of great early match-ups should make for exciting contest to watch this evening. First off, Atlanta sets out at home playing host to the Detroit Pistons, a team still looking to get on their feet, starting 0-4 and not getting any rhythm together in the first 4 outings. No team wants to go 0-5 to start, so I’ll side with the Pistons to beat the spread at Oddsmaker sportsbook, and root for a tight game either way. For the Lakers on the other hand, it’s all about scoring tonight, as Los Angeles travels to Sacramento to meet the fast-paced Kings, off to a great start to the 2010-11 campaign. Collectively averaging 222 points per game to start out, I like the Kings to make it a close game at home, but just can’t see past the depth of threats available to the Lakers right now, and will take an over wager for total points, and an outright win for Kobe, Pau, Lamar, and Company. All the starters for the Lakers got rest in a blowout victory at home, so with a full steam ahead, it’s a scary team to run into at home or on the road. Staying with the California trend for sports betting, the Clippers try to get their first win against the OKC Thunder (some 0-4 has to win tonight right?), and Golden State gets to mop up the remains of the Memphis Grizzlies, coming off that previously mentioned blowout to the Lakers. Check out the lines on the San Antonio v. Phoenix match-up, with Phoenix struggling still without Stoudamire, and the Spurs looking like, well, the Spurs. Tim Duncan still doesn’t appear to have aged yet (unlike the Celtics recent aquistion, the big ‘Shamroq’), and with a new Tony Parker contract set up, the team should be clicking to victory on the road tonight.

NHL Hockey wraps up the top sportsbook betting options for today, with a number of choice contests to look out for when wagering on the games. The Boston Bruins make for a tough match-up against the 3-7-2 Buffalo Sabres, especially with Ryan Miller out of net for game time. Combined with an anemic scoring attack, Buffalo may be in trouble against a Bruins team with lots of scoring, and 1st in goals against thanks to the presence of Tim Thomas who enters the contest 6-0, coming off two shut-outs, and giving up only 3 goals this season. Coming down from a great start the Toronto Maple Leafs have come back down to earth, and against Washington, on the opposite trend behind Alex Ovechkin, it’s a good wager with the Capitals at home for their 7th win on the year. New Jersey continues it’s tough road trip landing in Chicago, and anchored by Patrick Sharp and Duncan Keith, Blackhawks look the right pick for sportsbooks bets here. Look for plenty of goal scoring as Detroit heads to Calgary, where goals just seem to rain from the rafters, the Tampa Bay Lightning look too much for the Anaheim Ducks, and a great match-up between Pittsburgh and Dallas should make for a great way to finish off the betting today, taking Dallas 3-1 on home ice. With a full plate of options worth checking out at the top sportsbook at Oddsmaker, good luck on the picks and catch you again tomorrow for more top sportsbook betting and news.
