ALDS, NLDS playoff games for sports bets, start of NHL …

After a short hiatus for sports over the first few days of the week, it’s time to put sportsbook betting into high gear as the start of the Major League Baseball post season commences this afternoon and evening, leading into tomorrow’s start of the 2010-11 NHL regular season campaign! Game 1 of the first American League Divisional series gets underway in just a few hours as the Tampa Bay Rays host the Texas Rangers, to be followed by the second ALDS game between the New York Yankees and the Minnesota Twins, and the NLDS game between the Philadelphia Phillies and the visiting Cincinnati Reds. As I was fortunate to cash in on the only sports action in play last night (a random NCAA football game between Troy and Mid Tennessee), today the fuel is back on the fire with a few more wagers at one of our featured online sports betting sites over at’s great online sportsbook (read the review of Superbook). The sportsbook was actually the first online sportsbook and casino I ventured to when starting off blogging about betting on sports on this site, and to this day, I remain a happy customer, and would recommend the site to anyone just getting into online sports betting, or looking for a change of pace from their current sportsbook of choice.

After going over the match-up for the Tampa Bay vs. Texas match-up yesterday, let’s take a look into the second ALDS game between the New York Yankees and the Minnesota Twins, two teams that met in last season’s playoffs. Last year was a surprisingly different story match-up wise between these two groups, as undoubtedly the Yankees had the bigger bats and the better pitching to overwhelm the Twins in the first round of the 2009 playoffs. This year however, there’s almost a complete flip-flop in outlook for the two teams, as the Twins have been playing great team ball all year, finished strong down the homestretch, while the Yankees have struggled to secure their starting rotation, had a terrible month of September and are quite frankly starting to look old (case in point manager Joe Girardi, who looks like he aged 5 years in one month due to the stresses of playoff expectations). The Twins seem like they have nothing to lose, and with great synergy throughout the year brought on by their intelligent and respected manager Ron Gardenhire, I’m picking the Twins to nab Game 1 today, and secure the series with a 3-1 win over the big payroll. There’s nothing more I’d like to see than a well-built, cost-efficient club take down the most expensive team in sports, and this year, I’m fully behind the Minnesota Twins to bring it.

For the remaining sports betting action today, again look to the starting game between the Tampa Bay Rays and Texas Rangers, which should be a tight and close ball game, as well as the NLDS game between the Cincinnati Reds and the Philadelphia Phillies. My predictions call for Tampa Bay and Philadelphia to emerge victorious in their respective series, however make sure to do your due diligence before wagering on any games during these series, as all teams are good enough to get to the playoffs in the first place, so more than ever the match-ups need to be taken into account before you wager. Also ahead, If you haven’t taken much stock in NHL Hockey, it’s a great time to check out a great sport, and expand your online sports betting as another new season of sports kicks off with games tomorrow. Lastly for today, check out the one NCAA football game (I can never resist these small, mid-week games!), as UCF takes on UAB in a Conference USA match-up, that should be an easy win for the UCF Knights, who’ve only fallen in close games to a few pretty good teams. Any which way you like it, sportsbook betting has a little of everything for fans today, so enjoy the action in the sportsbooks and in the great online casinos reviewed on our site, and enjoy the playoff games later on today!
