Monday Night Football highlights sports betting at …

After a long day back at the daily grind of the work week, it’s always a big plus to be able to drop everything at the door, settle in for a little Monday Night Football, and have some solid action for the game online at one of our best sportsbooks reviewed right here. It’s even better when you get to come home, and find yet another game of MLB playoff baseball going on at the same time, just to give you a bit of sports diversity for the evening, and another wagering option. Adding in a twist of 7 games for NHL Hockey tonight, we have a nice little evening of sports and online sports betting to peruse, and for tonight’s online sports betting I’ve ventured to one of my favorite top sportsbooks at Players Only sportsbook (read the review of and placed a few wagers hoping that this Monday night will turn out to be a lucky one indeed. As the teams start dropping like flies in playoff baseball (Cincinnati found the door last night after being swept out by the talented and experienced Philadelphia Phillies), make sure you’re catching all the wagering possibilities for the playoffs, as within a couple weeks’ time, what was once a boon of constant games everyday throughout the summer, will fizzle to just a few games a night, and then eventually none left at all!

Getting into the NFL football action today, Monday Night Football has an interesting match-up between the New York Jets and the Minnesota Vikings, with one team quickly living up to their preseason hype (the Jets) and the other figuring out what kind of team they are, and what kind of leader they have. The New York Jets, coming off three straight wins, face a desperate Vikings team on the road trying to avoid a crushing 1-3 record to start the season. With a depleted secondary and a poorly performing defensive line against the run, Minnesota has their work cut out for them in tonight’s big game, as is recognized by the Jets being the favorite at the Players Only Sportsbook. At the beginning of the season, I would have touted this game as a huge match-up, likely between two playoff contenders, however at this point I’m only seeing one contender and one pretender, and as such, have to take the Jets to prevail at home doing what they do best…running the football. Watch out for the impressive tandem of the resurgent LaDanian Tomlinson and Shonn Greene to set the tone for this game early, offsetting the powerful Adrian Peterson on the opposing side. With few options for Bret Favre in the passing game, New York should be able to focus on the Vikings run offense, and contain any hopes of the Vikings stealing a win on the road, and getting to .500 ball on the year. My prediction: 23-14 Jets.

With one game in the Major League Baseball playoffs tonight, it could very well be the last game for Bobby Cox, the Atlanta Braves’ head coach, whose career and team is up against the wall down 2-1 in the series with San Francisco. However, an interesting match-up presents itself as veteran Derek Lowe gets the start against 21 year old Madison Baumgarner tonight, looking to avenge a tough Game 1 loss 1-0 to Tim Lincecum. Whether I just want to see more games in playoff baseball, or whether I truly believe Atlanta will prevail to see another day, I’ll put my wager in on Lowe to shut down the Giants enough to move to a Game 4 in this series. However, with Baumgarner showing the poise of a much older, much more experience pitcher this season, it’s anyone’s call, but a good failsafe for tonight’s game remains the under wager on total points, which is a modest 6.5 at Players Only today. In any case, check out your wagering options at or any of the best online sports betting sites reviewed here, and as always good luck betting on sports with all the great information made available to you across the sportsbooks, blogs and top sports portals on the web.
