Sportsbook action with World Series, NBA, NHL, and NCAA …

It’s been another long and grinding week for those of us in the working force, and with plenty of exciting sports action waiting in the wings, the anticipation of the World Series, the start of the NBA season, and more great games in NHL Hockey seem to make the work day even longer as day after day I for one can’t wait to punch out and head home for all the exciting action in store every evening this week. With Thursday upon us, and Friday looming ever-so-close, great choices for online sportsbook betting today will be a much needed dose of excitement to an otherwise anxious wait for the last few ticks before 5:30 pm Friday. With exciting NBA action opening up a whole new section of betting on sports, today will continue the fun with two key games in focus, as John Wall gets his first start for the Washington Wizards on the road against the always tough Orlando Magic, and the Utah Jazz look for redemption against the Phoenix Suns after getting pounded by Carmelo Anthony and the Denver Nuggets last game in their opener. For online sportsbook betting today, it’s the sportsbook (read the review of that we here have come to know, love, and frequent weekly for any type of sportsbook betting excitement.

To kick off wagering, we’ll start with the two NBA games, taking the Magic at home in their opener, and I’ll take Phoenix on the road to spoil the Jazz’ home opener (my first pick against a team’s opening night on home court). In the latter game, both teams are looking to find themselves after losing their most productive and prolific scorers over the offseason (Carlos Boozer off to Chicago, Amare Stoudamire to the Knicks), but I like the improvements the Suns have made to have a bigger effect in this match-up, and expect them to bounce back tonight against Deron Williams and the Jazz. Sports fans will also be able to turn to a very interesting NCAA football game between #16 Florida State and North Carolina State, which should be a pretty decent ACC match-up for sportsbook betting on College Football tonight. This is a great offensive match-up in particular featuring a big-time QB in Christian Ponder for FSU, a big-scoring attack from Russell Wilson and NC State (averaging 36 points and 450 yards of offense per game, 303 yards through the air), and plenty at stake as both teams fight for top spot in the Atlantic Division. After getting roughed up by Boston College on Oct. 16th, FSU has shown vulnerability that the Wolfpack will look to exploit at home in front of a rowdy crowd. NC State looks to bounce back after a tough loss at East Carolina. I like a high scoring game showcasing the QBs today, and I’ll go out on a limb and pick the upset with the Wolfpack today at I’ll go with a score of 30-27 (which would put them under the 59 point spread), and a good pick to take NC State with the +3.5 points on the line. Any which way you pick it, this should be a solid NCAA match-up to watch and wager on tonight.

With further sportsbook betting options available on the NHL games taking place today, make sure to check out for great contests like the Toronto Maple Leafs on the road against the Boston Bruins, the Washington Capitals with their second game in two days on the road again at Minnesota, and the L.A. Kings looking to bounce back after a loss last night at Chicago, this time taking on another tough road opponent in the Dallas Stars. Quietly, the Calgary Flames have come out of the starting blocks with a fervor, looking to win 7 out of their first 10 games as they host the Colorado Avalanche tonight on home ice. Without the Avs starting goaltender Craig Anderson, I give the nod to Miikka Kiprusoff, who has helped his team to wins in 5 of the last six, and always plays tough at home in the Saddledome. Check out the undefeated (in regulation) Nashville Predators at home against an equally surprising St. Louis Blues team (starting 4-1-2), and specifically Predators goalie Pekka Rinne who has been lights out to start the season. I like the Ottawa Senators to keep clawing back after a rough start of the year (facing Florida tonight on home ice), and Detroit to prevail over a struggling start to Phoenix’s season. With the NHL showing many team’s true colors very early, count on consistency from a few of the best to be the backbone in your parlay wagers each week.

Lastly, and definitely not least, Game 2 of the World Series between the San Francisco Giants and the Texas Rangers gets underway this evening, and you certainly won’t want to miss out on taking a crack at wagering on the final baseball games of the year. After a very surprising Game 1 ending in a 11-7 win for the Giants, Texas must bounce back after losing game one in a terrible start for their ace Cliff Lee, this time putting my favorite Texas pitcher, C.J. Wilson up against Matt Cain. While it’s been a historic trend that the Giants haven’t given Matt Cain any run support, judging by the San Francisco bats picking up in fine fashion last night against arguably the best pitcher in baseball, expect another game with big bats, plenty of excitement, and for my pick, another San Francisco win at home.
