Opening night for the NFL gets underway tonight

With the opening day of the NFL now officially underway today, I can safely say that Thursday night’s football contest between the New York Giants and the Washington Redskins will be one of the most anticipated games of the summer for me, if only for it’s relation to the start of the NFL season. Even though the Major League Season quickly approaches the playoffs, there is just nothing quite like getting back into the National Football League, as 16 games decides the season, and every single one of those games is a must win situation for each team in the league. With the excitement and anticipation just killing me today, I wait like any other faithful sports fan; online sports book bets placed, and slowly dragging out the day before game time. Whether this game is a bust like last year’s opener, or a well fought contest between future playoff hopefuls, only time will tell now, and look forward to seeing the NFL back on track in a few short hours!

Turning back to Major League Baseball on Thursday night, it’s a little bit quiet on the evening with the NFL taking center stage on nationally televised coverage, however, there are a couple of contests worth checking into, especially the two games with very strong playoff consequences between the Toronto Blue Jays and the Minnesota Twins, as well as the Yankees and Rays who duke it out in AL East play today. I like Scott Kazmir for Tampa Bay today, and further like the Toronto Blue Jays to handle the Twins while their impressive winning streak continues. Elsewhere the Angels should have no problem at home with the Tigers with Ervin Santana on the mound, and I would look for low-scoring game in this one, unless the Angels let loose with the bats.

Out west in the National League, things are really getting interesting now that the playoffs are less than a month away, even if there aren’t too many interesting bets to be had today. With the Brewers hopefully getting any easy win against the Padres, and the Reds and Braves chosen to win later on, I like my chances over at (read the review of Superbook), one of our top sportsbooks reviewed here at our site. Check out this website and the plethora of others offered here at, and certainly enjoy the kickoff of the 2008 NFL Football Season!
