With about six weeks remaining in the NBA regular season, we’re beginning to enter the home stretch and although we are already know many of the teams that will be continuing on into the postseason, there’s certainly still a lot to be decided and many more fun games yet to be played. Today, the NBA’s got nine games on tap for bettors, so it should be a busy day and with all the incredible match-ups the Association has in store for us today, it should be a blast either way. Here’s a look at our quick picks for Sunday:
Miami Heat at -4.5 New York Knicks +4.5
First up this morning is the game most will consider to be the highest profile game of the day as the two top teams in the East do battle at Madison Square Garden. Although this should certainly be an entertaining contest, it’s impossible to bet against the Miami Heat right now. They’ve not only won 13 in a row, but they’ve looked pretty juggernaut-like during their run. Take Miami to cover -4.5 in the win.
Oklahoma City Thunder +2 at Los Angeles Clippers -2
The first game of the day will be big, but this match-up out West rivals just about any game on the schedule this season as the second-placed and third-placed Western teams duke it out. Most people will like the Clippers today considering they are the hotter team – on a four-game win streak – and the one at home, but the Thunder have gotten the better of this match-up this season, winning the first two meetings. Take OKC to cover +2 and win outright.
Philadelphia 76ers +5.5 at Washington Wizards -5.5
The Wizards aren’t used to being the favorites, but they’ve earned this spread with their play lately. Since John Wall has returned from injury, the Wiz have begun to turn things around and have won six of their last 10. Meanwhile, the Sixers have been slipping and have dropped eight of their last 10. Take Washington to cover -5.5 in the victory.
Memphis Grizzlies -7.5 at Orlando Magic +7.5
Even though they had their win streak snapped the last time out, the Grizz should easily earn the win today over the Magic, who are among the worst teams in the entire NBA. Take Memphis even on the road to cover -7.5 here.
Charlotte Bobcats +7.5 at Sacramento Kings -7.5
Both teams in this game are playing so poorly lately that it’s hard to know what to expect. That’s why I actually like the Bobcats to cover +7.5 here. They may not win, but this game will probably be close either way.
Dallas Mavericks +5.5 at Houston Rockets -5.5
Dallas has beaten Houston in each of the first two meetings between the teams this season, so even though the Mavericks are on the road, they should be able to cover +5.5 at the very least. This should be a high scoring game as both teams come in averaging more than 100 points per game on offense, but it also should be pretty close. Take Dallas.
Detroit Pistons +12.5 at San Antonio Spurs -12.5
The Spurs may have the best record in the NBA, but it take some pure magic to cover nearly 13 points without their star guard Tony Parker, who just went down with an injury over the weekend. Take the Pistons to cover +12.5 in one of the easiest picks of the day.
Chicago Bulls +7.5 at Indiana Pacers -7.5
Both teams bring in strong defenses and are playing well lately, so things should be close. Expect the Bulls to come out swinging as they look to pull within a game closer in the Central Division and take Chicago to cover +7.5.
Atlanta Hawks +5.5 at Los Angeles Lakers -5.5
The Lakers have stepped up their game lately, but there’s no reason they should have the edge against a much stronger Hawks team, who is playing just as good, or better in recent weeks. The Lakers are good at home (19-11), but not unbeatable. Take Atlanta to cover +5.5 and expect them to probably win outright.
