Super Bowl XLVI Kicks Off, Biggest Sports Betting Day is …

For today, that action centers of course around the Super Bowl this afternoon live from Lucas Oil Stadium in Indianapolis, Indiana, but also make sure to keep a heads up on a number of great online sports betting options available for NBA and NCAA basketball, NHL hockey and a couple of marquee European soccer matches that’ll sure to make a great day of sports all the more interesting. Though we’ve maxed out our betting tickets for the Super Bowl already, we urge you to join in if you haven’t already, as this happens to be one of the biggest days for betting on sports out of the entire year, and as they say, once it’s gone…it’s gone!

With New England getting the slight favorite in the Super Bowl today at -3 points against the spread and -130 odds to win straight up on the money line, I’ve done all the thinking, analyzing and second-guessing imaginable to come to the conclusion that the New York Giants are once again going to prevail in this rematch of Super Bowl XLII, as the high-flying defensive attack helmed by Jason Pierre-Paul, Justin Tuck and Osi Umenyiora, combined with the much-improved form of Eli Manning and the Giants passing game will prove to be too much for New England to overcome. While I envision this game starting slow as both defenses play at the top of their game, the New England defense will inevitably suffer the same shortcomings as they have all season, giving way to the deep ball from Manning, to any one of the talented Giants receivers including Victor Cruz, Hakeem Nicks and/or Mario Manningham. I can’t get by the fact that New England has only one win against a team with a record better than .500 on the regular season (that being Baltimore in the AFC Championship), and in that game Tom Brady was simply awful, held in check by heavy pressure from the Ravens talented defensive line and linebacker corps. With the Giants set on keeping Brady in check, but the Patriots eventually being unable to stop the bevy of offensive weapons coming their way from the New York side, only a late surge from the Pats, perhaps on a key turnover or interception, will result in the Pats walking away with a victory. Heads up though, New York is the more confident team, playing with a defense that is peaking at just the right time, and looks to be a great pick as a slight underdog in this match-up. That said, either which way the outcome drops, it should be a close battle for the Lombardi trophy as either team has the ability to come back when down late in games, and can score points very quickly in hurry-up offense. With the total points in this match-up set at 54 and with two offenses that are ready to open up the scoring down the second-half stretch, even if you aren’t prepared to take a side on the game for online sports betting, you can play it safe on the over wager, which looks to be a great bet between two teams that can easily open up the scoring via the pass on quick drives.

Switching gears to a couple of top basketball games in action today in both the NBA and College Hoops, look for the best battle in the NBA to be between the Boston Celtics and the Memphis Grizzlies, as the Celtics try to take advantage of the Grizzlies recent woes and continue to build back their season from an awful start. Over in College Hoops today, there’s a fantastic in-state showdown between the #10 Michigan State Spartans and the #22 Michigan Wolverines, which is sure to make for a great option for betting on sports this afternoon. With the Big Ten conference title still very much up for grabs, this game is critical for both teams, however the Spartans at home, coached by Tom Izzo, stand to be just too much for a Wolverines team that while playing great defense this year, struggles to put up enough points against high-scoring offenses.

Rounding out another great day of betting on sports, check out the NHL Hockey action pitting the Boston Bruins against the Washington Capitals, as well as the Pittsburgh Penguins vs. the New Jersey Devils and the Philadelphia Flyers getting a rematch against the New York Rangers after the two battled in a great Winter Classic in early January. With even more great action in store for Soccer around the globe, check out Chelsea vs. Manchester United in English Premier League play, as well as games throughout the Spanish, Italian, and French leagues to name a few. With these games for sports betting on top of what is sure to be another exciting and perfect end to the NFL season in this years’ Super Bowl, enjoy a great day of online sports betting, thanks as always for stopping by, and make sure to try out a new favorite at TopBet Sportsbook today!
