Updated Super Bowl Futures Released

Week 1 of the NFL is in the books and Week 2 will start tonight with a great matchup between AFC North rivals the Pittsburgh Steelers and Baltimore Ravens.

With 15 games left for each team and 16 weeks left in the regular season, there is a lot of football left to be played before the postseason.

Nevertheless, new Super Bowl odds were released this week updating the odds makers’ outlook for the postseason.

While Seattle and Denver, the two participants in the Super Bowl last season, both had their futures on Bovada and betonline shortened after impressive performances in Week 1, it was teams well down the board on topbet and sportsbook.com that saw price adjustments that were much more drastic.

One of those teams making a big move after Week 1 was the Minnesota Vikings with their rout of the St. Louis Rams in St. Louis.

The Vikings started the season at 50 to 1 to win the Super Bowl and are now down to 25 to 1. The line for Minnesota to win the NFC has been cut to 12 to 1, making them a legitimate playoff contender.

Tennessee following a win on the road in Kansas City had their odds reduced dramatically as well to 60 to 1 from 100 to 1 to be Super Bowl champions.

Other teams did not have the same positive outcomes from their Week 1 games. Five teams losing in Week 1 saw their odds lengthen on the futures board.

The Chicago Bears and Baltimore Ravens each started the season with 25 to 1 odds to win the Vince Lombardi trophy.

The Bears dropped all the way to 50 to 1 after their opening game loss to Buffalo, while the Ravens fell to 40 to 1 after losing to Cincinnati.

Kansas City was easily defeated by Tennessee at home and saw its Super Bowl futures tumble to 100 to 1 from 50 to 1.

Pessimism in Dallas and Washington became bigger as the two teams had embarrassing starts to their 2014 seasons. Washington tumbled to 75 to 1 from 60 to 1 and Dallas plummeted to 100 to 1 from 75 to 1.
