Wichita State Meets Indiana in Midwest Region Opening …

The second day of the round of 64 in the NCAA Tournament tips off Friday with a number of great matchups. One of those that should produce a very competitive game is in the Midwest Region where the No. 7 seeded Wichita State Shockers play the No. 10 seeded Indiana Hoosiers.

The Shockers were shocked in the Missouri Valley Conference Tournament and could be lacking in confidence entering this matchup.

The current line has Wichita State favored by 5.5 points with the point total sitting on 140.

Wichita State on the season is 28-4 straight up and 17-13-1 against the spread. The over/under this season for the Shockers was 15-12. The Shockers ended their season with two straight losses against the number in the MVC Tournament losing outright to Illinois State as a favorite by 8.5 points. However, the Shockers did end the season covering the number in 6 of its last 7 games during the regular season and pushing on the eighth.

The Shockers have covered the number in its opening game of the tournament the last two years and is 16-13-1 ATS when a favored this season.

Indiana on the season was 20-13 SU and 15-16-1 ATS. The over/under was 22-10-1 this season in Hoosier games.

The Hoosiers enter the tournament in disarray. Indiana has lost five of its past seven games overall, with only wins against Rutgers and Northwestern thrown in. Indiana however is the best team in the country on the OVER.

Indiana is 0-5 ATS in its past 5 NCAA Tournament games, although they were the favorite in all five.

Darius Carter is the Shockers most experienced player in the post and he will have to come up big on Friday.

Troy Williams will matchup up against Carter in the paint. Williams is 40 pounds lighter than Carter and that one on one matchup will be a big key to the outcome of this game.

The Shockers have a solid track record, as Wichita State has become a trustworthy team against the number. On the other hand, Indiana has played just downright poor basketball and has not covered the number. The flow of Friday’s game will be dictated by Wichita State which should mean the Shockers will cover the number and the total will cash on the UNDER.
